“This day reminds us that we have come to this earth to become complete, to attain perfection.” — Swami Rama
Guru Purnima is celebrated each year on the first full moon following the summer solstice. HYM will gather in community to celebrate the Guru – the teacher within – and Swami Rama who embodied those teachings and brought them to our Milwaukee community.
The word Guru is made up of two syllables: ‘Gu’ meaning darkness and ‘ru’ meaning light. Guru is that force that removes darkness and leads us toward spiritual enlightenment.
